Event Booklet

35 Highville Road

  • Original structure of house is approximately 270 years old
  • The original half of the house was finished by Jacob Musser, approximately 1750, after his father, John Musser, acquired the land north of Conestoga and willed it to his son. The newer 1800's half of the house was added for Benjamin Musser's large family and for his medical practice
  • All contractors agreed to the condition that no element of the house could be removed or destroyed without permission from the owner. And, if given permission, every piece of dust had to be saved. Hence there are buckets of material which are being stored in case the contents might be useful for ongoing research of the house
  • The property has been, and continues to be restored to be as close to a pre-European state as is possible
  • The new kitchen was designed to replicate an 18th century decor while creating a modern functionality
